Amanda My Puppy Coach holding a Puppy

Meet Amanda — Puppy Coach & Animal Behaviour Specialist

Hello

There is nothing quite like having a dog who can go everywhere with you.

The beach, the café, the Sunday morning football pitch, a friend's house on a rainy afternoon. A dog who is calm enough, confident enough, and settled enough to simply be part of your life — not just in your home, but in the world.

That's what I want for every puppy owner I work with and I know it's possible, because I've lived it twice.

Where this started

My first dog as an adult taught me everything. We grew up together in a way — figuring out life side by side, going everywhere together, building the kind of bond that only comes when a dog feels genuinely secure in the world around them. She could walk into a busy pub and settle under the table. She could meet new people, new dogs, new environments, and take it all in her stride. She was my companion in the truest sense of the word.

When she passed, the house felt very different. Eventually we welcomed a Labrador puppy, and this time I leaned even more deliberately into those early weeks — the foundations, the socialisation, the quiet consistency that shapes who a dog becomes. The result was the same: a dog who is calm, well-mannered, and genuinely enjoyable to be around. A dog who comes with us everywhere.

What I've also seen, close up, is what happens when that early window is missed — not through carelessness or lack of love, but simply through not knowing. Dogs who are anxious in new places. Dogs who can't be taken out easily. Owners who feel guilty, frustrated, and stuck.

In many cases, earlier guidance could have reduced the struggle, helped owners respond sooner, or prevented manageable difficulties becoming established habits.

That realisation is what led me here.

What I believe

A puppy who learns the right things early will carry those lessons for life. The early months aren't just about stopping bad behaviour — they're about building a dog who feels safe, confident, and at ease in the world. Get those foundations right, and everything else follows naturally.

I also believe that how we handle animals matters deeply. Every puppy I work with deserves to be treated with kindness, patience, and genuine respect — and every owner I work with deserves to be met with the same. There is no shame here, no judgement, and no harsh methods. Ever.

The background

Alongside my real-world experience raising dogs, I hold a BSc (Hons) in Animal Behaviour and Welfare and am a certified Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy Coach — one of the UK's most respected positive, science-based puppy training methodologies. Everything I teach is evidence-based, welfare-led, and grounded in how dogs actually learn.

But more than any qualification, what I bring to every session is the genuine belief that with a little clarity, a little consistency, and the right support at the right time — you and your puppy can have exactly the relationship you hoped for when you first brought them home.

What to expect when you work with me

Calm. That's the word clients use most. You'll leave every interaction feeling clearer, more confident, and less alone in this than you did before. I won't overwhelm you with information or make you feel like you're getting it wrong. I'll meet you where you are, give you what you actually need, and help you build something that lasts.

Because the goal was never just a well-trained dog. It was always a dog who could go everywhere with you.
